Decker has always considered herself as a traditional country artist, but the album's marketing and production was targeted at an audience more influenced by pop. Her music came under increased attention after the launch of two songs. The following track, Boys in the Summer featured a rural feel. Decker's second studio album was released with the name Daughter of a Gypsy, or Sweet American Dreams. Mercury had it shelved as three of her country tracks failed. Her album was eventually released.
